Throughout the week there were debates about how the industry must engage and focus on minimising the environmental footprint, while continuing to provide energy.
Drass participation was very successful, we were present with a modern stand, not dry ship off course, where we entertained the visitors with our exclusive Red Drass wine, poured through the water trap of the Diving Bell.
Another theme of discussion were the financial challenges looking at the medium and long term situation. One conclusion was made by Connie Hedegaard, Denmark’s Minister of Climate and Energy, who said that the oil and gas industry has to capitalise on the world’s transition to a low carbon economy, and that the industry’s technical know-how and engineering skills should be harnessed to win a share of new offshore renewables markets. She added that the twin challenges of climate change and energy security will dominate the global political agenda for years to come.
